ME2 trimmed almost all the fat, vastly improved the combat, gave us charismatic and compelling characters, eliminated the Mako altogether (I didn't bother with the Firewalker DLC after the first time, fuck that shit), introduced renegade/paragon interrupts that made the dialogue sequences more exciting, gave us compelling loyalty missions that felt important, a fantastic ending, etc. The ship had less to explore, the annoyingly repetitive Normandy theme which looped endlessly drove me insane, having to buy different licenses to access new products was irritating, etc. I didn't like that you could only map one power at a time and locking onto enemies was a nightmare, I didn't like that the characters (aside from Liara and Wrex) didn't really develop much of a personality until the sequels. I didn't like virtually any of the Mako sequences (and by god there were many), I didn't like the reskinned environments in the side missions which all felt far too similar. I didn't like having to customise my weapons with a million different types of ammo or modifications for different enemies, I didn't like that you could modify your armour but you couldn't do anything to improve it aesthetically. I get that a lot of people enjoyed the RPG elements and I get that, but aside from more opportunities to resolve things with diplomacy, most of it didn't add to the experience in a positive manner, for me.

Agreed, I enjoy ME1 but it's the weakest of the trilogy in my view.
